SEASON FAST APPROACHING
April 6, 2009
Currently we are finishing up our oval car for an upcoming NASCAR sanctioned test at Delaware Speedway on May 2, 2009.
Our road race car, and our secondary car that serves as a back up for both oval and road racing, are complete and ready to race. We had a lot of work in the off-season in order to update all of our chassis to meet NASCAR specs. Rear clips have been changed on all cars, along with some other minor changes suspension wise required by the sanctioning body.
Unfortunately we will not have the backing of Allied Steel Building for this year. The U.S. economy impacted their business negatively and they are unable to commit to a full campaign again for 2009. We still have strong relations with them and wish them all the best and look towards working with them again in the near future.
We are currently in negotiations with companies as we look forward to partnering with some one for our limited NCATS schedule in 2009.
Our cars will continue to carry the white, blue and silver colors as they have for the last two seasons.
I am looking forward to getting to Delaware. The last time I ran there was in 2003 and I raced a CASCAR car there for Ed Hakonson and Team 3. We didn't have a great day result wise, but it was my first time in competition with most of the current NASCAR Canadian Tire Series competitors. Before that I had run at Delaware a couple of times with the ACT series and had had decent runs both times. Delaware has been off the schedule for the last couple of years so it will be good to get back there and give those fans a great show with the current cars and drivers.
Our first Late Model race will be at Capital City Speedway on May 8. That is their season opener. It looks like our CCS schedule will work out to 8 nights as those are the events that count towards the point standings for the championship. It will be fun to get back there on a regular basis. 1988 was the last time we were there with any regularity and the fans were always great. CCS is a tight little 1/3 mile but it is very technical and is a real driver's track. My Late Model program is sponsored by Hasiuk Trailer and Containers of Colborne, Ontario. They have been involved with our family racing dating back to my dad in the late seventies. The Hasiuk family are great people that have supported a variety of short track racers and speedways over the last 3 decades. We are always appreciative of their help and we look to represent them well.
I will check back in with after the test at Delaware and the opener at CCS to give you a re-cap from my side of the fence.
LYNCH PLANS FOR 2009
March 4, 2009
Currently we are preparing cars for the 2009 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. Our goal is to run 5 NCATS races in 2009. We will run Delaware, both Mosport races along with Barrie and of course the season ender at Kawartha.
I hope we can challenge for wins at all of these events. We run well at them and have had success there in the past. I am looking forward to running the five events with the Canadian Tire Series in Ontario. I have a great group of guys that help us with the cars and the last two seasons have been pretty busy for them. It will give us a chance to catch our breath from the extensive travel the series requires and I feel we will be better prepared for the races we will enter.
I am hoping to fill up the racing calendar with some events at Capital City Speedway in Ottawa with our Late Model. Our Late Model is an ACT legal car and ACT has announced a program where about Tour and Series race winners along with affiliate track champions qualify to attend a shoot-out at Loudon during the Sprint Cup Chase event weekend. I would like to try and qualify for that race if we can. Capital City has some great racers down there and it will be fun to run 8 or 9 nights there and see how the chips fall for the chance to get to Loudon. We have had our ACT car for a few seasons now and only get to race it once or twice a year, so I am excited to get some laps on it and get it figured out. We will also run it at Kawartha for the ACT Summer Sizzler show as well.
We will be in the 77 car at the NCATS races and back in the familiar red 15 for the Capital City and ACT shows.
